It's been a few weeks since I've posted here. I'm not dead and I haven't fallen off the wagon, it's just my busy time of year. I've also been reusing ideas from previous days a lot, and that wouldn't exactly be compelling reading.
Laura went back to work yesterday after three weeks off, leaving me to make up for some of the work I've missed while spending time with her. As such, it was a busy day for me: I wrote pretty steadily from 6:30 am into the afternoon, got a quick workout in and covered last night's Timber Rattlers game.
The busy schedule, leftovers in my fridge and general lack of appealing meatless options at the ballpark made it a difficult time to hold my usual Meatless Monday. So I put it off.
Making a conscious decision to shirk my workout/food routine is something I've been trying not to do, to the point where I've been a pain in the ass to friends and Laura at times and forced them to alter plans so I could go meatless or get a workout in. But sometimes changes have to be made, so I'm eating meatless today instead. I had vegetarian taco mac and cheese for lunch and I'm working on a roasted tomato soup for supper.
The danger in, for example, skipping a Meatless Monday is that it's easy to find another excuse on Tuesday and just push it off into next week or beyond. But when you're working on a plan like this I think it's important to remember that the goal is to get healthier, not to punish yourself. If life gets in the way and you have to move things around a bit, so be it. Just don't forget to repay your debts later.
